Bravo on revisiting your strategy! Social media, as well as your business, is in a constant state of evolution. Re-evaluating and making sure your strategy and branding are optimizing and being optimized by social media sites you're on on a regular basis is a must for continued and increased success. I agree about spreading yourself too thin but after looking at your website and what you do (very interesting), I think that there are some other sites you should consider - LinkedIn for its professional contacts and Xing for its global outreach. More food for thought. Appreciate your chiming in and adding to the conversation. Best, Dr. K

Thanks for a thought provoking article that prompted me to ask some hard questions about my strategy.

Having just embarked on revamping my site and trying to figure out how to create a social media strategy I know how perplexing it all is.

I currently use Facebook and Twitter only. My main reason not to use other sites is that I do not want to spread my limited time too thinly and become a jack of all trades but master of none.

Hope my two cents worth helps you.

Best wishes,

Gary. - Gary Lee Galbusera Butcher

A lot of people have put all their social networking eggs into 1 basket, only to find themselves banned and having to start over from scratch. The rules of each site can be so arbitrary too... someone I met recently got booted off Facebook for catching up on hundreds of incoming friend requests in too short a time. Friending roulette is a dangerous game to play, especially on Facebook whose friend adding limits are a mysterious algorithm.

Having an overall strategy that applies across platforms is far more effective than squeezing all you can from 1 site.
